Various Sundries of the Homebody Sort

Today was a rip-roaring day filled with home-i-ness in the form of Epicurious.com’s Corn & Crab Chowder (to which I added celery and onion, almost reaching the holy trifecta of good Cajun cooking) and Allrecipe.com’s Maple Salmon (to which I added Korean pepper flakes).

Wish I had pictures, but I lost my camera charger somewhere between Paris and home, and I’ve yet to replace it. I know that the instant I spend the money for a new one, the old one will turn up. This has happened to me, without fail, since elementary school. If the universe is telling me to stop losing shit, I think it needs to pick a new object lesson. This one particular failing is not getting fixed.

Also, in a country kind of mood. Apparently being barefoot in the kitchen will do that to me. Go figure. Anyways, I actually enjoy country music. It’s just the culture tied to the cowboy chaps and apron strings so prevalent in country music that irk me so. Thankfully, just when I think I’m getting completely fed up with the songs celebrating formulaic gender roles, a Tegan and Sara shows up or Neko Case. I’ve sprinkled some country-sounding songs into the mix to save me a tiny bit of time. I can’t be stopping every five seconds to stare at my laptop and mouth “You have got to be kidding me.”

Finally watched my S2 DVD of Terminator: SCC, which just made me absolutely joyful and heartbreakingly angry at the same time. I absolutely hate that Fox ditched SCC just when it was getting to the point where new viewers could’ve entered and gotten totally sucked in. That series was nothing less than a dream come true (COME ON! Lena Headey AND Summer Glau?!?!?!) with the best writing, best music, best pacing, best character decisions, and best potential. It died too early to be marred by its own complexity (like, BSG and Lost eventually did, no matter how I loved those shows).  But seeing the extras on the DVD, and realizing just how much thought was placed in each step of the individual stories and the overarching plots, I think they could’ve gone the distance. If only Fox had given them that chance. I’m really befuddled as to how SCC got cancelled after two seasons and Smallville is reaching it’s 11th or 12th or whatever it is at this point. God, the absurdity.

Of course, there was Josh Friedman’s gleeful commentary on S2Ep1, where he told us that Brian Austin Green’s ability to churn out exposition was cunningly tied to his disrobing. A la Sawyer’s nekkid chest exposition in Lost. He’s totally right. It works. 😀

Pairings of Twoo Wuv/Lust/Convenience/Snarkiness . . .

I don’t know why I need to do this, but apparently I do. Half these pairings are due to all the fanfic writers out there. I didn’t even know certain pairings could exist until I started touring the big, bad, Internetz. Its done hooked me in. 🙂
